How crocheting changed my life – and my dream began

Sometimes something small begins and grows into something big. For me, it was crocheting. As a 13-year-old, I crocheted my first project in school - a jump rope. You always start small - and sometimes the first stitches turn into something really big. Back then, I never thought that this very technique would change my life years later.

After a long break, I rediscovered crocheting in the summer of 2024. I started completely anew and taught myself everything - simply to pursue my hobby again. Every new stitch, every color, every little animal brought me joy and peace. I started crocheting first for myself, then for friends and family - and the loving feedback motivated me to pursue my dream a little further.

On March 9, 2025, I finally opened my own shop: KareliasPlushies. This date is very special to me - it's my deceased dad's birthday. Whenever I think of it, I feel a deep connection to him, and it almost feels like he's guiding this step. For me, this date was a sign to finally make my dream a reality: to create something creative, loving, and unique that brings joy to people. With every little animal I crochet, a piece of my heart, memories, and passion is in my hands.

Of course, it was important to me from the start that my animals were not only beautiful, but also safe for children. That's why I did everything I could from the beginning to obtain the CE certification that was necessary to officially sell my plush toys. Today, I proudly bear this certification - as a sign that my cuddly toys are tested, safe, and responsibly manufactured.

Crocheting is more than a craft for me. It is therapy, creativity, and passion all at once. Every animal I create carries a piece of me - and I hope that this joy also reaches the people who hold my plush toys in their hands.

For me, it was crocheting - and it allowed me to realize my dream of creating my own handmade cuddly toys that not only bring joy, but are also tested, safe, and made with a lot of heart and soul.
